GROWING INDOORS
Alocasia 'Melo' has stunning textured leaves, and is perfect for a terrarium, vivarium, or greenhouse. The leaves of your Black Velvet will top out at roughly 12 inches in length. Make sure that your Alocasia is receiving bright, indirect light and a fair amount of humidity to keep the plant growing steadily. Water your Alocasia about every 5-6 days Spring through Fall, and about every other week in the Winter.
GROWING OUTDOORS
Alocasia will grow beautifully outdoors, but they are not winter hardy and should be brought inside once temperatures dip below 55 degrees. Spring through Fall, keep your Alocasia in Full Shade and make sure it is not receiving any hot, direct sun. Water once your plant has had a chance to dry out, usually about every 4-6 days with moderate temperatures. You may need to water your Alocasia every 2-3 days during periods of extreme heat.
